Saving Blue

The second week in August, an Angel from Heaven who goes by the earthly name Ron, contacted 4 Paws 4 Christ with a desperate plea to save a Pit Bull named Blue, living next door to him in a house occupied by 16 people. A house occupied by 16 people none of which could seem to afford to buy ANY kibble for this poor animal, however, could afford to buy case after case of beer on a nightly basis. My new kindred spirit, Ron, explained that these neighbors (who are the REAL animals in this story), stated that they would “Kick his a@!” if they caught Ron sneaking Blue anymore food through the fence. Ron witnessed Blue being beaten with a PVC pipe by these people when discovering Blue digging through their own garbage for food scraps. Ron offered to take Blue off their hands, and was told if he wanted the dog it would cost him $100 – An amount far out of reach for Ron.

Well, I'm not a rescue facility, but...NOT ON MY WATCH WHILE THERE IS STILL BREATH IN MY BODY!

Happy ending? As of August 18, 2009, Blue has been de-fleaed, bathed, thoroughly fed and watered, and snuggled into Ron's life! Blue now has the opportunity to understand the meaning of so many words that we often take for granted: Home, contentment, belonging, and love. Two days after he became a permanent resident of at Ron's, he was taken to the vet where 22 ticks were removed from his ears. To quote Ron, today “He follows me around, like a litte duck following the pack.” Before Ron, shied away from any and all contact out of fear of being struck – Now, he curls up with Ron on the couch.

With all of my heart, I believe God led Ron to me. Ron stated that he had gotten no results from contacting other facilities and/or organizations, virtually pleading with them to remove Blue from that horrific life. Ron and I had him out in less than 24 hours... God's mercy is an amazing thing. More than just Blue, Ron was suffering as well – FOR Blue. Through Him, both of their torment has ended. It's a choice to believe this. It's a choice that I have chosen and I hope others choose as well.
